The Benton County Republican Women met at the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library on Monday, March 24th, where they showed the film "Chosen," an expose on child sex trafficking by Shared Hope International. Letetia Wilson, Director of the area Center Against Rape and Domestic Violence (CARDV), was the guest speaker. There is much work to be done through law enforcement, schools and organizations to educate students, parents, teachers, administrators and the community about sex trafficking; what to watch for and what to do when a vulnerable child appears to be in the process of being led astray by a predator. For girls (and boys) who have been lured into prostitution, getting out can be dangerous. Therefore, safe houses --in a different location-- are essential. Convincing young girls and boys to say something if they see that a friend might be in the process of being lured by an older 'new friend' is also essential. BCRW has recently joined the Benton-Linn Coalition Against Human Trafficking (CAHT).
